What is the system for Alltop School online homework?
The online homework is using the standard DLE (dynamic learning environment) software. It's implemented by Alltop School, and it is powerful and unique learning environment.
What is the benefit for the system?
1. It is more convenient to students. Homework and answer sheet stay on the same page.
2. Students can view their actual answers for all of the questions.
3. Students can also see previous homework to makeup.
4. It displays 3 weeks of homework with answer sheets and the viewable homework so that the student continues reviewing (re-doing) homework for 3 weeks.
5.It will display the answer key to the homework after the students practice for 2 weeks. The students can review it, and find out the actual answers to those questions they missed.
6. Another new feature will be implemented in the future, we will post class notes associated with the lessons if applicable.
7. Students can browse the homework online easily by clicking "Next" and "previous" and questions number buttons. For example, if the student wants to do Question 50, (s)he needs only click the button with text 50 in it,
then the question will be shown without leaving current work, and the answer sheet still stays there waiting for the next input.
8. Students don't need go between the homework page and answer sheets to submit the answers. It saves overall time
from start to end. Whatever they see the problems is wherever they put the answers.
9. Even if the student is absent, the homework is still posted on time without sending any request. It reduces lots of hassles.
Why can't we print the homework?
We use the standard DLE (dynamic learning environment) concept to change the system.
Since the answer sheet is online, and homework is already online, if they need to submit online, it makes more sense they do everything online.
Most of the students are doing homework at home, so accessing computer is not an issue. Even if they do homework in the library, they still can take laptop with them.
Shall the students still turn in work details?
Everything else stays the same except that they don't need to print original questions.
What if the internet is down?
It had the same issue before the system changes. The student has to start working the problem as early as possible. We don't believe the internet connection is an issue for any house. Short-term unavailability is possible, but they can finish the homework within two weeks then if they can send the teacher an email.
Can we get email for the homework in order to print?
Unfortunately it is not possible since the homework was made by the software development team, re-making the homework in different format is not part of the job. All the math homework will be online.
Why can't we view the homework this week?
There are only two reasons: tuition is overdue or the student was absent with credit request. The second case happens only in the summer.
